Bishop Dale J Melczek
“I pray that God grant eternal peace and blessedness to His faithful priest and bishop, my brother Bishop Moses Anderson. Bishop Anderson always listened to the promptings of the Holy Spirit whether in prayer or through the voice of his superiors.
“As a priest, the Holy Spirit spoke through his Edmundite superiors. It was Blessed John Paul II through whom the Spirit called Bishop Anderson to the episcopacy and to ministry in the Archdiocese.
“We were all deeply moved when the Spirit inspired Bishop Anderson to lift his voice in songs of praise especially during his homilies. I remember Bishop Anderson also as gracious and hospitable as he shared the depths of our faith or the beauties of his rich culture formally or in smaller social gatherings. He enjoyed hosting meals.
“It was obvious that God dwelled in his heart. May he now rest in the bosom of the Father.”
Bishop Dale J. Melczek, the Bishop of Gary, Ind., was ordained a Detroit auxiliary bishop with Bishop Moses Anderson in 1983 and served alongside him in the Detroit Archdiocese until 1992.
