2012 13 Catholic Campaign for Human Development CCHD Results

9 organizations within the Archdiocese of Detroit have been awarded grants totaling $59,000 from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) to fight hunger and help people in need.

  • Hope Hospitality and Warming Center, Inc. A low barrier, cold weather seasonal shelter that serves the homeless while providing services that encourages acceptance, compliance and ultimately leads to self-sufficiency.
  • Imago Dei CPC Is a "pro-life" advocacy program that helps women in crisis with spiritual and physical needs as an alternative to abortion. The program offers counseling, prenatal information, parenting classes and free pregnancy tests.
  • Infant Mortality Program Helps at risk pregnant women; provides educational/literacy services to young parents and adults within the Highland Park community.
  • Jail and Outreach Ministry (JOM) Serves individuals affected by crime; victims, offenders, families of both, and the community.
  • On the Rise Bakery A bakery training program for men seeking to re-enter the community after having experienced bouts of homelessness or incarceration.
  • South Oakland Shelter Program to enable homeless individuals achieve self-sufficiency, stability and employment.
  • St. Aloysius Canticle Café Productions Help assist participants in the development of practical working skills to prepare individuals for possible entry into future employment.
  • St. Christine Christian Services Supplies Detroit's Brightmoor community with provisions, educational and medical services for young and old alike.
  • St. Dominic Outreach Center The homeless, unemployed and working poor receive food, clothing and no-cost bus tickets. Also provides cribs/mattress sets to mothers.
