Detroit Archbishop speaks about and prays for situation in Syria

We must bring to our participation, to our life as citizens, what we know about right and wrong, good and bad, defense of the innocent, and bringing to justices those who commit crimes. That۪s what the Holy Father is asking the whole world to think about, to pray about
We hope everyone will take us at face value. We are here to pray, because we know that God is the Lord of history, that we need the strength of God and the light of God and the help of God to make good judgments that we need to direct the course of world affairs according to God۪s plan for his human family.
Particularly, we have added to this pilgrimage prayer for peace in Syria and the middle east because Peter Pope Francis, Peter for us has asked us to do this. What else could we do except to respond and do our part, whatever that is, whatever role we play, to pray for peace, to help achieve peace? And to do this with serene confidence, for God۪s victory over evil is assured. That۪s what we celebrate whenever the Lord brings us together for the Eucharist.
By dying, Jesus Christ destroyed death. It۪s done. By rising, He has restored life. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. And of his kingdom there will be no end.
