Six Men to be Ordained Priests June 7 for Detroit Archdiocese

Detroit Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron on Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m. will ordain six men to the Catholic priesthood for the Archdiocese of Detroit: Deacons Ryan Adams, Jeffrey Allan, John Kopson, Gregory Piatt, Bryan Shackett and Joe Tuskiewicz. A seventh, Father Joseph Kirkconnell, was ordained May 24 in his home parish of St. Ignatius in the Grand Cayman Islands. As St. Ignatius Parish is under the pastoral care of the Archbishop of Detroit, Father Kirkconnell also is considered a priest of the archdiocese.

The June 7 ordination will take place at a liturgy at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 9844 Woodward Avenue, Detroit. The public is invited to attend. Those being ordained will greet family and friends following the ordination Mass. More details about the ordinandi:

adams Deacon Ryan Justin Adams, 33, of Detroit, is the son of Rick and Susan Adams. He entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit from his home parish of Holy Redeemer in Detroit.
allan Deacon Jeffrey D. Allan, 35, of Redford Township, is the son of James and Louise Allan. He entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary from his home parish of St. Colette in Livonia.
kopson Deacon John Daniel Kopson, 32, of New Baltimore, is the son of Fred and Theresa Kopson. He entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary from his home parish of St. Mary Queen of Creation in New Baltimore.
piatt Deacon Gregory Piatt, 55, of Warren, is the son of Arthur and Gloria Piatt (both deceased). He has been in formation at Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, Mass. His home parish is St. Faustina in Warren.
shackett Deacon Bryan N. Shackett, 25, of Marine City, is the son of Lawrence and Mary Shackett. He entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary from Our Lady on the River Parish in Marine City, and has been in formation at the Pontifical North American College in Rome.
tuskiewicz Deacon Joe Tuskiewicz, 59, of Detroit, is the son of Walter (deceased) and Virginia Tuskiewicz. He has been in formation at Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, Mass. His home parish is Mother of Divine Mercy in Detroit.
kirkconnell Father Joseph Kirkconnell, 30, who was ordained May 24 in the Grand Cayman Islands, is a native of the islands and the son of Gerald and Deborah Kirkconnell. He entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary from his home parish of St. Ignatius.
