Archdiocese newspaper The Michigan Catholic to be replaced with digital news website and service
The Archdiocese of Detroit on Wednesday announced it is replacing TheMichigan Catholic print newspaper with Detroit Catholic, a comprehensivedigital news website and service. Starting this fall, Detroit Catholic will featurefree, daily and engaging news coverage of missionary activities of the localchurch in southeast Michigan.
To facilitate this news transformation, The Michigan Catholic newspaper willcease print publication after the August 24 issue, with an anticipated digitallaunch of the Detroit Catholic website in November.
The new online news service will continue providing the award-winningcoverage and feature stories Michigan Catholic readers expect. However, thetransition to Detroit Catholic will allow the archdiocese to enhance thatcoverage and broaden its storytelling and reach.
Details of this transition are being shared this week with Michigan Catholicsubscribers and advertisers, as well as archdiocesan parishes and schools.
