Reverend Edwin Balazy

Father Edwin Balazy passed from this life on July 21, 2020 at the age of 83.

Father Balazy was born August 10, 1936 in Wyandotte, Michigan, and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 2, 1962.

Father Balazy served as Pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish, Dearborn Heights; Immaculate Conception Parish, Detroit; and as Parochial Vicar of St. Hyacinth Parish, Detroit and St. Raymond Parish, Detroit.

Visitation will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 26123 McDonald Street, Dearborn Heights, Michigan 48125 on Friday, July 24, from 4 – 6 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m.

Father Balazy’s funeral Mass will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 26123 McDonald Street, Dearborn Heights, Michigan 48125 on Saturday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, 30895 W. Huron River Drive, Flat Rock, Michigan 48134.

Since Father Balazy served as pastor of St. John the Baptist parish for nearly 40 years and was so loved by many parishioners and because seating is severely limited due to our Covid-19 precautionary measures, Father’s family has requested that only Father’s classmates attend/concelebrate the funeral Mass.

Father Balazy was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Lillian, and by his brothers, Sigmund Klimkiewicz and Chester Klem. He is survived by his brother, Stanley (the late Pamela) Balazy and many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
