Reverend James Meyer

Reverend James Meyer, passed from this life on February 1, 2021 at the age of 86.

Father Meyer was born on May 6, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 4, 1960.

Father Meyer served as Associate Pastor of St. Benedict Parish, Waterford and Sacred Heart Parish, Dearborn. Father Meyer also served as a hospital chaplain for many years.

Visitation for Father Meyer will take place on Thursday, February 11 from 2 – 7 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks, Troy, Michigan 48084, and on Friday, February 12 from 2 – 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 1000 Eliot, Detroit, Michigan 48207. Due to the pandemic, the family will have a private funeral Mass on Saturday, February 13, with interment at Mt. Elliot Cemetery. The family will hold a “Celebration of Life” for Father Meyer at a future date.
