Deacon Jerome (Jerry) J. Campernel

Deacon Jerome (Jerry) J. Campernel passed on from this life on Monday, August 8, 2022, at the age of 79. Deacon Campernel is survived by his beloved wife, Judy.

Deacon Campernel was born October 10, 1942 and was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on October 6, 2007. Deacon Campernel served his first assignment at St. John Vianney, Shelby Township as an active and later senior active deacon until 2021, followed by his last senior active assignment at St. Therese of Lisieux, Shelby Township, which was also his home parish. Deacon Campernel also served as Assistant Chaplain to the International Order of Alhambra - Galicia.

Deacon Campernel’s visitation will take place on Friday, August 12, from 2 – 8 p.m., at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 48115 Schoenherr Road (n. of 21 Mile Road), Shelby Township, MI 48315. There will be Color Guard at 5 p.m., a Rosary prayed at 6 p.m., and a Scripture Service at 7 p.m.

Deacon Campernel’s funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, August 13, at 10 a.m., at the same St. Therese of Lisieux. In state will begin at 9:00 a.m.
