Reverend George Kowalski

Reverend George Kowalski, passed from this life on January 30, 2022, at the age of 96.

Father Kowalski was born on February 15, 1925, in Helenowo, Poland, and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1956 in Krakow, Poland. He was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Detroit on May 17, 1979.

Father George Kowalski served as both Pastor and Administrator of St. Helena Parish, Wyandotte. He also served as Chaplain at Henry Ford-Wyandotte General, Wyandotte, and as Parochial Vicar of St. Cletus Parish, Warren; Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Plymouth; St. Mel Parish, Dearborn Heights; St. Bartholomew Parish, Detroit; Our Lady Queen of Apostles Parish, Hamtramck; and St. Aloysius Parish, Romulus.

Father Kowalski is predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Adela (Zawistoska) Kowalski, as well as six brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will take place at Our Lady of the Scapular Parish, 976 Pope John Paul II, Wyandotte, MI 48192, on Thursday, February 10, from 5 – 7:30 p.m. with Mass at 7 p.m., and on Friday, February 11, from 10 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. with Mass at 7 p.m., and on Saturday, February 12, from 9 a.m. until the time of his funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Wyandotte.
