Reverend Gerard Cupple

Reverend Gerard Cupple passed from this life on December 28, 2023, at the age of 68.

​Father Cupple was born on April 29, 1955, and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 22, 1985.

​At the time of his death, Father Cupple was serving as a member of the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Divine Grace Parish, Carleton; St. Gabriel Parish, Ida; and St. Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, Rockwood, that form the Three Rivers Family of Parishes. Father Cupple previously served as Pastor of St. Gabriel Parish, Ida; St. Mary Parish, Wayne; and St. Henry Parish, Lincoln Park; as well as Administrator of Holy Family Parish, Inkster; St. Richard Parish, Westland; and St. Mary Magdalen Parish, Melvindale. He also served as Parochial Vicar at St. Theodore of Canterbury Parish, Westland; Sacred Heart Parish, Dearborn; St. Colette Parish, Livonia; and St. Mary of Redford Parish, Detroit.

​Father Cupple is predeceased by his parents, Dominick and Jane Cupple. He is survived by his sister Felicia (James) Bishop, his brother John Cupple and niece Christina (Michael) Paoletta and nephew John Dominick (JD) Cupple.

​Father Cupple will lie in state at St. Joseph Church (of St. Gabriel Parish), 8295 Van Aiken Street, Ida, Michigan, 48140, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Vigil/Scripture service at 7:00 p.m..

​Visitation will continue at St. Joseph Church on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m..
