Reverend Edward J. Prus

Father Edward J. Prus passed from this life on March 11, 2023, at the age of 93.

Father Prus was born on May 15, 1929 and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 3, 1961.

Father Prus served as Pastor and Administrator of St. Raphael Parish, Garden City; as well as Parochial Vicar of National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, Royal Oak; and St. Philip Neri Parish, Detroit. Father Prus served in the Detroit Mission at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Pernambuco, Brazil. He also served as Priest-Weekend Support at St. Cyprian Parish, Riverview, and Spiritual Director at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit.

Father Prus is predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Mary and sister, Stasia. Condolences may be sent to Monsignor Timothy Hogan, St. Fabian Parish, 32200 W. Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan 48334.

Visitation will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 241 Pearson Street, Ferndale, Michigan 48220, on Wednesday, March 15, from 2 – 9 p.m., with a Rosary at 5 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Father Prus will lie in state at National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica Parish, 2100 W. 12 Mile Road, Royal Oak, Michigan 48073, on Thursday, March 16, from 9 a.m. until the time of his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery in Carleton.
