Announcement from Ascension Michigan and Henry Ford Heath

This morning, Ascension Michigan and Henry Ford Health announced a joint venture between the companies to “bring together Ascension’s southeast Michigan and Genesys healthcare facilities and assets with Henry Ford’s.”

The organizations said they are “committed to working to maintain the Catholic identity of the Ascension Michigan facilities included in the partnership. Conversations on the future state of the Catholic identity of these facilities are ongoing.”

Archbishop Vigneron and his delegates for healthcare institutions, Bishop Gerard Battersby and Monsignor Michael Bugarin are attentive to this process and will work with Ascension Michigan to understand how they will preserve their Catholic identity going forward. We anticipate that some priests, particularly those serving as hospital chaplains, and parishioners may have questions. More information will be shared by Ascension Michigan and Henry Ford as it becomes available.
