Reverend James L. Bjorum

Reverend James L. Bjorum passed from this life on October 23, 2023, at the age of 75.

Father Bjorum was born on October 30, 1947, and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on February 7, 1976.

Father Bjorum served as Moderator and member of the In Solidum team of priests who pastor St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, St. Clair Shores; St. Isaac Jogues Parish, St. Clair Shores; Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Clair Shores; St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish, Roseville; Holy Innocents-St. Barnabas Parish, Roseville, that form the SERF Vicariate Family 1. Father Bjorum also served as Pastor of Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Clair Shores and St. Germaine Parish, St. Clair Shores; Administrator of Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Clair Shores; and as Parochial Vicar of St. Agatha Parish, Redford and St. Anne Parish, Warren. He also served as Chaplain of Bishop Gallagher School, as well as in the Metropolitan Tribunal at Central Services.

Father Bjorum is predeceased by his parents, Neil K. and Adeline R. Bjorum. He is survived by his sister, Laurie Ann (Greg) Kimball, and brothers, David (Karel) Bjorum and John (Sandy) Bjorum. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews.

Father Bjorum will lie in state at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 28301 Little Mack Avenue, St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081 on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 3 – 9 P.M., with a Rosary, led by the Knights of Columbus, prayed at 6 P.M., and a Vigil Service at 7 P.M.

Visitation will continue at Our Lady of Hope Parish on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 10 A.M. until the time of his funeral Mass at 11 A.M.
