Deacon Harry Friend

Deacon Harry Friend passed on from this life on February 17, 2025, at the age of 93. Deacon Friend was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemary, and survived by 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

Deacon Friend was born May 20, 1931, and was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on June 9, 1984.

Deacon Friend served his first assignment at Our Lady of Loretto in Detroit for one year before moving to the Diocese of Gaylord to serve there for the rest of his ordained ministry.

Deacon Friend’s funeral Mass will take place on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 11411 S. Lacore Rd., Empire, MI 49630. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
