Archbishop Weisenburger Establishes Dates, Time, Masses for Receiving the Apostolic Blessing and a Plenary Indulgence
On April 16, 2025, Archbishop Weisenburger issued a decree establishing three dates, locations, and Masses at which the faithful of the Archdiocese of Detroit may receive the Apostolic Blessing and a plenary indulgence:
- Midnight Mass at Christmas in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral
- Mass at 11 a.m. on Easter Sunday at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral
- The principal Mass of October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, or whatever day on which the Annual World Day of Migrants and Refugees may be observed.
The Holy See grants diocesan bishops the prerogative to designate three times a year when he may give the Apostolic Blessing and provide for Christ's faithful the opportunity to receive a plenary indulgence.
