Consecrated Life
"Consecrated life is a gift to the Church, it is born of the Church, it grows in the Church, and it is entirely directed to the Church."
Pope Francis, Synod on Consecrated Life, 2014
The Office for Consecrated Life exists as a bridge between the Archbishop and members of institutes of consecrated life living or working in the Archdiocese of Detroit. The Delegate for Consecrated Life provides a pastoral presence and supports institutes of consecrated life in fulfilling their particular mission and undertaking apostolic works for the welfare of God’s people. This office also collaborates with various religious communities, parishes and the Detroit Archdiocesan Vocation Association (DAVA) in the lofty mission of encouraging individuals who demonstrate a propensity toward or a yearning for consecrated life.
Mission
The mission of the Office for Consecrated Life (OCL) is to offer pastoral support to religious institutes, societies of apostolic life, and consecrated virgins and hermits as they work to achieve their goals and the goals of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
The purposes of the Office for Consecrated Life are to:
- Provide timely communication to the Archbishop regarding institutes of consecrated life in the Archdiocese of Detroit
- Share the goals of the Archdiocese of Detroit with persons living in consecrated life for the sake of holy collaboration
