Cybersecurity and Cyber Liability Insurance
Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting one’s computers, networks, applications, and data from unauthorized access, use and/or modification. Cyber Liability Insurance protects organizations in the event of breach or loss of data. In Michigan, that insurance protection is provided and purchased for all Dioceses in the State of Michigan through the Michigan Catholic Conference (MCC).
Due the increase of Cyber-crime and the financial damages that are incurred, the requirements for Cyber Liability coverage and the costs have increased significantly over the past few years.
The Department of Technology has stayed current with the requirements and has received high marks in 3rd party assessments of our cybersecurity.
Parishes utilizing our Shared Services Model are covered entities as part of the MCC’s Cyber Liability policies and are not required to complete individual insurance applications to obtain coverage.
For more information about the requirements, review this Cyber Liability presentation.
