The Office of Sacred Worship is pleased to offer once again the opportunity for parishes to host a first-class relic of Blessed Solanus Casey for veneration and prayer services.
After the Beatification of Father Solanus, the Capuchins gave the Archdiocese of Detroit a relic of Father Solanus—a bone from his right hand. It was with this hand that Father Solanus would open the doors of the monastery to those who came to encounter Christ.
We invite each Family of Parishes in the Archdiocese to host this relic for up to seven days.
The pastor/moderator or parish representative will coordinate with the Office of Sacred Worship to pick up the relic from the Chancery and return it. The person responsible for transporting the relic, if not the pastor or priest in solidum, must bring a letter of delegation signed by the pastor or moderator. You will be required to sign out the relic upon pick up.
To host the relic at your parish, please have your pastor or moderator complete this form.
Please try to schedule your relic tour at least two weeks in advance.
When picking up the relic, you will receive the following:

- 1 Relic Case
- 1 Key
- 8 banners (English)*
- 8 banners (Spanish)*
*You can take one set of banners, both, or neither

We thank God ahead of time as we ask the intercession of Blessed Solanus Casey and celebrate all the richness of our Archdiocese, especially for our families who, “are at the very heart of our archdiocesan effort to unleash the Gospel.” (Unleash the Gospel, Guidepost 7) We take inspiration from our love of the family structure and the “warmth, mutual affection, honor, forgiveness, and peace” therein as our strength for Families of Parishes (Unleash the Gospel, Marker 7.1).
